Em plena Serra de Fafe, entre a cidade do mesmo nome e Cabeceiras de Basto, situada na região norte de Portugal, encontra-se uma casa que anda a despertar a curiosidade dos internautas de todo o mundo pela sua originalidade. Construída entre quatro rochas gigantes, a Casa do Penedo é mais do que uma residência rural perdida no interior de um pequeno país na orla ocidental da Europa.

A Casa do Penedo começou a ser construída na Primavera de 1972, quando a família Rodrigues quis realizar o seu sonho. Dois anos depois a residência estava feita. Não se trata de uma instalação ou de um hotel temático, uma vez que é utilizada pela família como local de férias. Porém, ultimamente tem atraído a atenção dos fãs de arquitectura e design de todo o mundo. Blogues e fóruns, na sua maioria não portugueses, têm divulgado as fotos desta casa. Em Outubro passado um canal da televisão portuguesa dedicou-lhe uma reportagem.
À primeira vista a casa nem parece real; parece mais uma habitação dos Flinstones. Mas está perfeitamente integrada na paisagem natural. Por fora é toda feita de pedra, salvo as janelas tortas e o telhado. Por dentro, a mobília, as escadas e os corrimões feitos de troncos completam o aspecto rústico. Os vidros são à prova de bala, a porta é de aço e o sofá pesa 350 quilos, pois é feito em betão e madeira de eucalipto.
Nos últimos meses, tornou-se comum os habitantes da região verem desfilar os turistas que procuram a Casa de Pedra. O proprietário, Vítor Rodrigues, já não habita a casa que aos domingos é visitada por dezenas de pessoas. Apesar do interesse que desperta pelo mundo fora, tem sofrido actos de vandalismo que põem em causa a sua conservação.

At first glance the house does not seem real, it seems more a dwelling Flinstones. But it is perfectly integrated into the natural landscape. On the outside is all made of stone except the crooked windows and roof. Inside, the furniture, stairs and handrails made of trunks complete the rustic look. The glass is bullet proof the door is steel and the sofa weighs 350 pounds, as is done in concrete and eucalyptus wood.
In recent months, it has become common for people in the region see parading tourists seeking the Stone House. The owner Victor Rodrigues no longer lives in the house that Sunday is visited by scores of people. Despite the interest awakened by the outside world has suffered vandalism which jeopardize their preservation.
